One of AK Electronics key points of its foundation is data elimination. AK Electronics uses various methods to ensure data has been eliminated from all devices. All methods of data elimination follow the methods set forth by the National Institute of Standards and Technology. All methods are tested and proven with the use of specialty software or physical implementations.
We treat all devices as having data unless proven otherwise to minimize your liability.
Phones/Tablets
Various methods need to be used to ensure complete data elimination dependent on the device. Not all factory reset methods are created equal. AK Electronics uses the proper Cryptographic Sanitization and Overwrite means where applicable to ensure all your devices have data completely eliminated

Hard Drives
AK Electronics uses software that conforms with NIST Standard 800-88r1
- This includes 3rd Party verification on a percentage of drives to ensure methods used are working as intended

These methods include purging the drive due to various different chipset and methods of storage that these types of drives use

Physical Methods
- For magnetic media, drives are degaussed then crushed.
Solid state media is crushed with a method that impales all chips on the device
Phones have batteries removed and also have their chips impaled
Computing devices with built-in solid-state media will have both memory and ram impaled in similar fashion as above
Any media left in the device such as CD ROMS or paperwork will be shredded
All machines that are used for this process conform with NIST Standards for their particular uses
All assets that have had physical methods applied will be recycled with a R2 or E-Stewards Certified Recycler

Delinking Assets
Any asset that has company links to it, such as an asset tag will be removed. AK Electronics takes all steps necessary to remove all identifiable tags and delink any association you may have with the equipment
